Women's Lacrosse concludes season with a 13-6 loss at Mount Union in OAC Tournament Semifinals

ALLIANCE — The No. 4 seeded Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team fell 13-6 at No. 1 seed Mount Union in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals on a rainy Wednesday night.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (9-9 Overall, 3-3 OAC), Mount Union (11-5 Overall, 6-0 OAC).

The Game
- Senior Elena Martin (Canfield) and freshman Clarissa Hamilton (Marysville) lead Northern with three points each.
- Mount Union took an early 4-0 lead in the first period, and led 9-0 going into halftime.
- Senior Lydia Lehman (West Chester/Lakota West) found the net at 12:20 in the third period for ONU.
- Hamilton scored in the third period to cut into the Mount Union lead.
- Martin found the back of the net with 2:59 left in the third period, cutting into the lead, making it 10-3 heading into the fourth period.
- Hamilton opened the fourth period by scoring to cut the lead to six and making it 10-4.
- The Purple Raiders were led by Lizzie Dorely with three goals.
- Sophomore Kara Fox (South Euclid/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) had 14 saves in goal for Ohio Northern.
- UMU out-shot ONU 41-15 and had the ground ball advantage 24-18.

- ONU was the No. 4 seed, while Mount Union was the No. 1 seed.
- This is Northern's sixth appearance in the OAC tournament in program history.
- Individually, Martin finishes her career as the all-time goals leader with 151.

- Senior Tori Wiece (Chesterland/West Geauga) wraps up her career with 101 groundballs and 40 caused turnovers in 58 games
- Senior Emma Hoersten (Hilliard/Davidson) finishes her career second all-time in career goals with 137 and third in points with 168.
- She also has the ONU career record in free-position goals with 45.
- Hoersten finishes with 59 games played with 44 career starts.
- Senior Mackenzie Miller (Maumee/Anthony Wayne) finishes her career with 25 points in 31 career games played.
- Head coach Margo Vandeveld is in her third season at Ohio Northern and has a 28-25 record, a winning percentage of .528.
