Women's Soccer falls 3-2 at Wilmington in OAC Tournament Finals

WILMINGTON — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team fell 3-2 at Wilmington on Sunday afternoon in the OAC Tournament Finals.

The Basics

• Records: Ohio Northern (7-9-4 Overall), Wilmington (12-5-4 Overall).
• Venue: Williams Stadium — Wilmington, Ohio.

The Match

• Senior Haley Cannon (Oregon/Clay) scored in the 6th minute off an assist from freshman Ayva Moore (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) to go up 1-0.
• Wilmington tied the game up with a goal in the 10th minute.
• Moore then scored a goal of her own off an assist from senior Karsten Bucci (Lewis Center/Olentangy) in the 24th minute to take a 2-1 lead.
• An own goal by ONU tied the game up once again with 9:15 left before intermission.
• The Quakers scored again in the 64th minute to go up 3-2.
• Junior Morgan Moeller (Harrison/Roger Bacon) had two saves in goal for ONU.
• ONU out-shot WC 22-8 and had a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Notables

• ONU was making its 29th OAC Tournament appearance and 20th Finals appearance.
• This was also ONU's 11th consecutive OAC Tournament finals appearance.
• ONU has won six OAC Tournament titles and is 5-5-1 in those 11 recent appearances.
• Ohio Northern was the No. 5 seed and Wilmington was the No. 3 seed in the tournament.
• ONU is now 24-8-1 all-time against Wilmington, including a 10-5-1 mark in Wilmington.
• Moore led the team with 12 points off four goals and four assists this season.
• Freshman Maddie Montgomery (Tipp City/Bethel) was second with seven points off three goals and one assist.
• This is the 38th season of Ohio Northern women's soccer. The Polar Bears are now 450-228-61 all-time in program history.
