Meet Preview: Ohio Northern closes its 2023 outdoor regular season on Wednesday and Thursday at the Mount Union Last Chance Meet for the Polar Bears' final attempt to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships, which are scheduled for May 25-27 in Rochester, N.Y. … On Wednesday, events begin at 2 p.m. and include the hammer throw and javelin … On Thursday, field events begin at 1 p.m. and running events begin at 5 p.m. …Northern is ranked No. 4 in the Great Lakes Region behind Mount Union, John Carroll and Hope (Mich.) in this week's USTFCCCA Rating Index … The Polar Bears are coming off Thursday and Friday's Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet at Baldwin Wallace … Senior Taylor Ellerbrock finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:32.20 … Sophomore Hannah Friend was fourth in the discus with a mark of 39.13 meters and 12th in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 44.38 meters, which ranks eighth all-time at ONU … Sophomore Izzy Burman was ninth in the discus with a mark of 35.14 meters and 11th in the shot put with a mark of 11.36 meters … Freshman Claire Schweller (3.61 meters) and senior Anna Schatzle (3.46 meters) were sixth and ninth, respectively, in the pole vault … Sophomore Olyvia Ashbrook placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.02 … Freshman Samantha Roth was sixth in the 5,000 in 18:25.16 … Freshman Lauryn Wolters was seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 10.26 meters … Northern currently owns one mark that ranks in the top 30 nationally in Division III, as senior Tessa Pitcovich is 21st in the 10,000 with a time of 36:07.00 … The top 22 individuals in each event and top 16 school relay teams will qualify for the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships.
