ADA — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day with an 18-4 victory over Mount Union on a wet Saturday afternoon.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (10-6 Overall, 6-1 OAC), Mount Union (7-7 Overall, 3-4 OAC).
- Venue: Dial-Roberson Stadium- Ada, Ohio.
The Game
- Senior Nathan Flynn (Springboro) and junior Jack Chaney (Westerville/South) led the Polar Bears with four points each with three-goal hat tricks and one assist.
- A total of 12 different players scored in ONU's balanced offensive attack
- Sophomore Cooper Mulligan (Middletown/Bishop Fenwick) had three points on two goals and an assist.
- Ohio Northern took control from the onset, scoring just one minute in when Chaney found the net unassisted.
- ONU scored the first four goals and eight of the first nine and led 8-1 just 3:09 into the second quarter.
- The Polar Bear lead was 10-2 at halftime and 14-2 after three quarters.
- Sophomore Peyton Lich (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) had seven saves on nine shots on goal in just more than 51 minutes in goal for ONU.
- The Polar Bears out-shot the Purple Raiders 55-31.

- With the victory, Ohio Northern clinched the No. 2 seed and a quarterfinal bye in the OAC Tournament.
- ONU will now host a semifinal game on April 29 at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
- Chaney leads the Polar Bears in points this season with 41 on 19 goals and a team-best 22 assists.
- Freshman Aidan Sexton (Milford) leads the team in goals this season with 22.
- Senior Alex Bergeron (Grafton, Mass.) and junior Ryan Frech (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) each have a team-high 16 caused turnovers this season.
