NEW CONCORD — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team earned a 16-5 road win at Ohio Athletic Conference foe Muskingum on a cool and windy Saturday afternoon.  

The Basics

  • Records: Ohio Northern (6-5 Overall, 3-0 OAC), Muskingum (4-6 Overall, 1-1 OAC).
  • Venue: North Athletic Turf - New Concord, Ohio. 

The Game  

  • Junior Jack Chaney (Westerville/South) led the Orange and Black with five points on two goals and three assists. 
  • Freshman Aidan Sexton (Milford) added four points on three goals and an assist.
  • Ohio Northern opened the game on a 3-0 run to take an early lead.
  • Senior Mark Mintzlaff (St. Louis, Mo./Country Day) scored the only goal in the second period to extend the lead to 5-1.
  • Chaney and senior J.D. Hale (West Chester/Lakota West) scored back-to-back goals to begin the third period to take a 7-1 lead. 
  • Northern led 10-3 going into the fourth period.
  • After two Muskingum goals, ONU scored four unanswered goals to secure the lead and the victory. 
  • Sophomore Peyton Lich (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) had six saves in just more than 57 minutes to earn the win in goal for Northern.
  • ONU out-shot MU 57-22 and won the ground ball battle 42-19.

  • Chaney leads the Polar Bears in points this season with 20 on nine goals and 11 assists.
  • Hale leads the team in goals this season with 14.
  • Northern leads the all-time series with Muskingum by a 10-0 margin.
  • Senior Alex Bergeron (Grafton, Mass.) is the team leader in caused turnovers this season with 13. 
  • Junior Devin Halliday (Delaware/Hayes) has a team-high 79 face-off wins.
  • Junior Ryan Frech (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) leads the team in ground balls this season with 27.
  • Lich ranks third all-time in ONU history with 265 saves, 19 wins, and 1456 minutes played in goal.
  • Head coach Nat St.Laurent is in his 11th season at Ohio Northern with a 114-58 record, a winning percentage of .662.
