SPARKS, Md. — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team's second half surge comes up short failing 10-6 against Ithaca (N.Y.) on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the spring break trip.

The Basics

  • Records: Ohio Northern (3-5 Overall), Ithaca (N.Y.) (4-2 Overall).
  • Venue: USA Lacrosse - Sparks, Md. 

The Game  

  • Junior Jack Chaney (Westerville/South) led the Polar Bears with a goal and two assists.
  • Freshman Aidan Sexton (Milford) added a goal and an assist in the contest. 
  • IC held 4-1 lead after the first period. 
  • Senior Luke Ferro (Bethesda, Md./Chevy Chase) and Sexton scored back-to-back goals late in the second period, cutting the lead to 7-3. 
  • After a Ithaca goal, Chaney found the back of the net to cut into the lead making it 8-4 heading into the fourth period.
  • Seniors Mark Mintzlaff (St. Louis, Mo./Country Day) and J.D. Hale (West Chester/Lakota West) both added goals in the fourth period for Northern.

Notables

  • Six Polar Bears scored goals in the contest.
  • Statistics were not kept at the venue and will be added when they become available.
  • Freshman Ben Gridley (New Hudson, Mich./South Lyon) leads the Polar Bears in points this season with 11 on seven goals and four assists.
  • Switter is the team leader in assists this season with five.
  • Senior Alex Bergeron (Grafton, Mass.) is the team leader in caused turnovers this season with nine. 
  • Head coach Nat St.Laurent is in his 11th season at Ohio Northern with a 111-58 record, a winning percentage of .656.
