Volleyball falls in three sets at #3 Hope (Mich.) in season opener

HOLLAND, Mich. — Ohio Northern fell 25-15, 25-15, 25-17 at #3 Hope (Mich.) on Friday evening at DeVos Fieldhouse.

• Sophomore Summer Hoying (Fort Loramie) had 12 kills and seven digs to lead the Polar Bears.
• Freshman Ella Meers (Stow/Stow-Monroe Falls) added 13 assists and two kills. 
• Freshman Kathryn Knaak (Westlake) had four kills for ONU. 
• Freshman Kayleigh Keeton (Dayton/Alter) also had seven digs. 
• Hope was led Brooke Fox with 13 kills. 
• The Polar Bears hit .061 for the match with 24 kills, while the Flying Dutchmen hit .354 with 47 kills in the match.

• Ohio Northern leads the all-time series against Hope 17-11. 
• The Polar Bears open their season playing in the Hope Tournament.
• Hoying was second in kills last season with 212 and third in digs with 237.
• ONU has won 22 OAC titles, 17 more than any other OAC school.
• Sophie Windover is now 36-20 in her two seasons as head coach of the ONU volleyball team, a winning percentage of .642.
