Women’s Outdoor Track and Field posts four top-five finishes at Ashland Open

ASHLAND — The Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team posted four top-five finishes at the two-day Ashland Alumni Open on Friday and Saturday at the Dwight Schar Athletic Complex.
Sophomore Sami Sellers (Van Wert/Lincolnview) led the way for the Polar Bears with a third-place finish in the discus with a mark of 38.47 meters.
In the elite division of the discus throw, sophomore Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) posted a mark of 39.25 meters, placing ninth.
Sellers was also ninth in the shot put with a mark of 11.13 meters and 14th in the javelin with a mark of 27.10 meters.
Senior Taylor Ellerbrock (Columbus Grove) and sophomores Kendra Krichbaum (Ashland) and Chloe Gibson (Ostrander/Buckeye Valley) also posted top-five finishes for the Polar Bears (21-3 overall) at the meet, which was not team scored.
Ellerbrock was fourth in the 1,500 with a time of 4:49.70, Krichbaum was fourth in the 100 meters in :12.53, and Gibson was fifth in the long jump with a mark of 5.20 meters.
Northern added three sixth-place finishes.
The 4x100 relay team of Gibson, Krichbaum and freshmen Haley Cannon (Oregon/Clay) and Stacey Legg (Monroeville) was sixth in :50.29.
Sophomore Larkin Warner (Findlay) was sixth in the 5,000 with a time of 20:37.95, and freshman Riley Heitkamp (Fort Loramie) was sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.53 meters.
ONU also posted seven seventh-place finishes.
The Polar Bears return to action on Thursday and Friday for the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Mount Union.
