Meet Preview: The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team is hosting the two-day Polar Bear Final Qualifier meet on Friday and Saturday … On Friday, the heptathlon/pentathlon events begin at 12 p.m., and the distance medley relays begin at 5:30 p.m. … On Saturday, the heptathlon events begin at 9 a.m., the field events begin at 12 p.m. and the running events begin at 1 p.m. … This is Northern's final meet before the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, which are scheduled for March 10-11 in Birmingham, Ala. … Nationally, the top 20 individuals and top 12 relay teams in each event based on top performances from this season will qualify for the NCAA Championships … The Polar Bears currently have one student-athletes ranked inside the top 30 … Freshman Claire Schweller ranks 28th nationally in the pole vault with a mark of 3.61 meters, which ranks eighth all-time at ONU … The Polar Bears are coming off the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships last Friday and Saturday where they scored 112 points and finished third of 10 teams … Sophomore Izzy Burman won the OAC titles in the shot put and weight throw, and senior Tessa Pitcovich won the OAC championship in the 3,000 meters … Burman won the shot put title with a mark of 12.91 meters and the weight throw title with a mark of 15.92 meters, both of which rank second all-time at ONU … Pitcovich won the title in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:06.26, which ranks third all-time at ONU … Pitcovich also earned All-OAC honors in the 5,000 meters … Schweller was All-OAC in the pole vault, and freshman Riley Heitkamp earned All-OAC status in the high jump … Senior Anna Schatzle is a defending NCAA qualifier in the pole vault.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 14th season as the head coach at ONU … He owns a 510-168-1 overall record indoors for a .752 winning percentage and a 426-168-3 overall record outdoors for a .716 winning percentage.
