Women's Lacrosse falls 16-5 against Mount Union in final home regular season game

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team fell 16-5 against Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest on rainy and chilly Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (9-7 Overall, 3-2 OAC), Mount Union (9-5 Overall, 5-0 OAC).

The Game
- Junior Abbi Arnold (Pickerington/Central) and sophomore Jaxsyn Murdock (Galloway/Alder) led the Polar Bears with two goals each.
- Senior Lydia Lehman (West Chester/Lakota West) had two assists for ONU.
- Arnold and Murdock got Northern on the scoreboard in the second period with back-to-back goals.
- Mount Union led 9-3 at halftime.
- The Purple Raiders scored to open the third period, but freshman Clarissa Hamilton (Marysville) found the back of the net to cut into the lead, making 9-4.
- Arnold found the net again with 6:05 left in the third period.
- Senior Elena Martin (Canfield) had a game-high six draw controls in the contest.
- Sophomore Kara Fox (South Euclid/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) had seven saves and in goal for Ohio Northern.
- UMU out-shot ONU 38-18 and had the ground ball advantage 21-9.

- ONU can clinch a spot in the 4-team OAC Tournament with either a victory at Baldwin Wallace or a Marietta loss at Mount Union on Saturday.
- Martin is the all-time career goals leader with 148.
- She also has a school record 253 draw controls, including a team-best 72 this season.
- Martin is also second in career points with 194, in caused turnovers with 94, and assists with 46.
- Martin leads the Polar Bears in scoring this season with 64 points on 49 goals and 15 assists.
- Lehman is second with 39 points on 15 goals and 25 assists.
- Martin is the team leader in ground balls this season with 42.
- Senior Emma Hoersten (Hilliard/Davidson) is second in ONU history in career goals with 137 and third in points with 167.
- She also has the ONU career record in free-position goals with 45.
