Women's Lacrosse drops its 2026 season opener 20-9 at Adrian (Mich.) on Saturday

ADRIAN, Mich. — The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team fell in its 2026 season opener 20-9 at Adrian (Mich.) on a chilly Saturday afternoon.

The Game
- Freshman Amber Regan (Dublin/Bishop Watterson) had a 3-goal hat trick in her first collegiate appearance to lead the Polar Bears.
- Sophomore Jaxsyn Murdock (Galloway/Alder) opened the the scoring for the Polar Bears in the first period with two goals.
- The Bulldogs led 5-3 at the end of the first period.
- Regan opened the second period by finding the net to cut the deficit to one making it 5-4.
- Junior Abbi Arnold (Pickerington/Central) found the net with 2:36 left in the first half to cut into the lead making it 8-5 heading into halftime.
- The Orange and Black went on a 3-0 run in the third period to trim the Adrian lead to 12-9 with 3:48 left in the period.
- Adrian put the game away by scoring the final eight goals of the contest.
- Senior Emma Hoersten (Hilliard/Davidson) had three assists to help ONU.
- The Bulldogs were led by Jenna Allie and Madeline Turcotte with 5 goals each.
- AC out-shot ONU 42-32 and had the ground ball advantage 24-22.

- Hoersten set a school record with 57 goals and 17 free position goals last season.
- She is first in ONU history in career goals with 123 and second in points with 150.
- She also has the ONU career record in free-position goals with 42.
- Senior Elena Martin (Canfield) is third in career draw controls with 183.
- Head coach Margo Vandeveld is in her third season at Ohio Northern and has a 19-17 record, a winning percentage of .527.
