Chaney named OAC Offensive Player of the Year, leads list of 12 athletes named All-OAC in Men's Lacrosse

ADA — Ohio Northern junior Jack Chaney (Westerville/South) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year, leading a list of 12 athletes named All-OAC in Men's Lacrosse for the 2026 season.
Chaney, seniors Alex Bergeron (Grafton, Mass.), Rudy DeFilippis (White Plains, N.Y.), Luke Ferro (Bethesda, Md./Chevy Chase) and J.D. Hale (West Chester/Lakota West), junior Ryan Frech (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) and sophomore Peyton Lich (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) were all named First Team All-OAC.
Senior Mark Mintzlaff (St. Louis, Mo./Country Day) earned Second Team All-Conference honors.
Seniors Nathan Flynn (Springboro) and Ian Phillips (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) and sophomores Cooper Mulligan (Middletown/Bishop Fenwick) and Brady Vette (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) earned Honorable Mention accolades.
Chaney is a first-time All-OAC honoree at midfield, leading the ONU offense with 54 points on 26 goals and a team-high 28 assists. He was also named the OAC Tournament MVP in the Polar Bears' second straight OAC Tournament Championship title.
In three years at Northern, Chaney has 96 points on 45 goals and 51 assists.
Bergeron is now a two-time All-Conference honoree at defense after earning First Team accolades last season. He was also named Honorable Mention All-America by USA Lacrosse in 2025. Bergeron is second on the team this season with 20 caused turnovers and 36 ground balls and also has two goals.
In his career, Bergeron has 54 caused turnovers, 87 ground balls and nine points on six goals and three assists.
DeFilippis started all 19 games this season at defense, recording 23 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers, along with one assist. He was also named to the OAC All-Tournament Team.
In 49 career games, he has 44 ground balls, 16 caused turnovers and one assist.
Ferro is a first-time All-OAC selection at SSDM. This season, he has 23 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers and eight points on six goals and two assists.
In four years with the Polar Bears, Ferro has 57 ground balls, 17 caused turnovers and 14 points on seven goals and seven assists.
Hale leads the Polar Bears this season with 27 goals to go with four assists for 31 points at midfield.
He has 54 career points on 48 goals and six assists, along with 20 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
Frech is a first-time All-Conference honoree at LSM and leads the team and the OAC with 22 caused turnovers. He is also second on the team with 46 ground balls. Frech was named to the OAC All-Tournament Team as well.
In 56 career games, he has 134 ground balls, 70 caused turnovers and 16 points on 12 goals and four assists.
Lich leads the goalies this season with 161 saves, a save percentage of .549 and a GAA of 7.92 in 1000 minutes in goal. He leads the OAC in save percentage and GAA and is fourth in saves. Lich was also named the All-Tournament Team.
In two years at ONU, Lich has 324 saves, 24 wins, a .571 save percentage and a GAA of 7.74 in 1884 minutes in goal. He ranks third all-time at ONU in saves, wins, and minutes and fourth in GAA.
Mintzlaff started in all 19 games this season at SSDM, recording 26 points on 18 goals and eight assists. He is also third on the team with 40 ground balls and has eight caused turnovers.
In 67 career games, he has 57 points on 43 goals and 14 assists, 78 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers.
Flynn is now a two-time All-OAC selection at midfield after being named First Team last season. He has 28 points on 21 goals and seven assists along with 26 ground balls and five caused turnovers on the season.
In his career, he has 78 points on 48 goals and 30 assists, 95 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.
Phillips started all 19 games at defense this season and has 15 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
In four years at Northern, he has 33 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers.
Mulligan is a first-time All-Conference selection at attack and has 32 points on 18 goals and 14 assists on the season. He also has 18 ground balls and three caused turnovers.
In 40 career games, he has 62 points on 42 goals and 20 assists, 31 ground balls and eight caused turnovers.
Vette is also a first-time All-OAC honoree at SSDM. He has 28 ground balls, nine caused turnovers and 11 points on three goals and eight assists this season.
In two years at ONU, he has 41 ground balls, 17 caused turnovers and 15 points on five goals and 10 assists.
The Polar Bears are 13-6 overall, finished 7-1 in the OAC and won their second straight OAC Championship title. Northern will return to action tonight in the NCAA III Tournament First Round at Concordia (Wis.) at 5 p.m. (EDT)
