Junior Andrew Markell named Men's Lacrosse OAC Defensive Player of the Week

ADA — Junior Andrew Markell (Missouri City, Tex./Ridge Point) has been named the Men's Lacrosse Ohio Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Apr. 2.

Markell led the Polar Bears (8-1 overall) to a convincing 10-2 victory over OAC-foe Mount Union.

The junior started in the goal for the first time this season and led a defensive gem for Northern.

In the victory, Markell allowed only two goals on 10 shots faced and recorded eight saves, posting a .800 save percentage.

The junior earned the honor for the first time in his career.

Northern returns to action Wednesday evening as it travels to Wilmington to take on the Quakers at 7 p.m.
