Volleyball wraps up OAC slate with even 4-4 record, defeats Wilmington in three sets on Wednesday night

WILMINGTON — The Ohio Northern volleyball team won in three sets 25-23, 25-19, 22-16 at Wilmington on Wednesday evening in an Ohio Athletic Conference match.

• Junior Olivia Baumann (Eaton) led the Polar Bears in kills with 13.
• Sophomore Summer Hoying (Fort Loramie) added 11 kills.
• Freshman Madelyn Banks (Nashport/Licking Valley) led ONU in assists with 23.
• Freshman Ella Meers (Stow/Stow-Monroe Falls) added 13 assists.
• Freshman Julian Gaier (Fort Loramie) had eight kills each in the match.
• Wilmington was led by Sarah Brown with 12 kills.
• The Polar Bears hit .309 for the match with 51 kills, while the Quakers hit .162 with 33 kills in the match.

• With the victory, Ohio Northern clinches a spot in the 6-team OAC Tournament Nov. 11-15.
• The Polar Bears will b the No. 5 seed and will travel to the No. 4 seed in the quarterfinals on Nov. 11.
• ONU leads the all-time series against 35-0 with a 16-0 record on the road. 
• Junior Jocelyn Obszarski (Cincinnati/Mercy McAuley) is first in the OAC in total blocks with 87.
• Baumann leads the team in kills this season with 233 and in digs with 290.
• Meers is the team leader in assists with 458.
• Sophie Windover is now 47-33 in her third season as head coach of the ONU volleyball team, a winning percentage of .587.
