Volleyball falls at No. 8 Wisconsin-Oshkosh in tough four-set contest

OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Ohio Northern volleyball team opened play at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Marty Petersen Invitational with a 25-16, 23-25, 26-24, 25-16 loss to the No. 8-ranked tournament hosts on Friday night at the Kolf Sports Center.

- Junior Lauren James (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) led the Polar Bears with 12 kills
- Junior Grace Conrad (Somerset/Sheridan) had 36 assists and 10 digs.
- Junior Rachel Jennings (Novi, Mich.) had 24 digs.
- ONU hit .108 with 42 kills, while the Titans hit .232 with 60 kills.
- UWO led wire-to-wire in the opening set.
- Northern won the tight second set that saw 17 ties and 7 lead changes.
- The third set was also tight with 11 ties, but the host Titans scored the final two points to hang on 26-24.
- UWO did not trail in the fourth and final set.
Notables
- The Polar Bears suffered their first defeat after a 4-0 start to the season.
- ONU is still undefeated against unranked teams in 2023.
- Sophie Windover is now 4-1 in her first season as head coach of the ONU volleyball team.
