Wednesday's Preview: The No. 18-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball program opens a set of four matches this week on Wednesday with a midweek showdown against in-state foe Denison … Match time is set for 7 p.m. inside the ONU Sports Center … The Polar Bears kicked off the 2018 season this past weekend hosting the 40th annual ONU Invitational where the team posted a 3-1 record … ONU would rebound from a 3-2 loss at the hands of Thomas More (Ky.) to defeat No. 12-ranked Carnegie Mellon (Pa.), Defiance, and Case Western Reserve … Senior outside hitter Josie Andres and junior outside hitter McKenna Jordan were named to the ONU Invitational All-Tournament Team due to their efforts over the weekend … Jordan currently stands atop the statistical charts with 59 kills following the tournament while also registering 20 digs … Meanwhile, Andres recorded 27 kills on 43 attacks, good for a .558 hitting percentage … Sophomore setter Katie Wade has racked up 176 assists through four games to lead the team … Junior defensive specialist/libero Madison Broering provided a spark defensively and from the service line this past weekend, tallying 97 digs and seven service aces to top the team … Denison enters the affair after posting a 1-2 record at the Mount Union Invitational … The Big Red were subdued by the tournament hosts and Massachusetts-Boston, but bounced back for a 3-0 win over Thiel (Pa.) … Sophomore outside hitter Emma Woerner and freshman setter/right side hitter Payton McElfresh lead Denison offensively with 22 and 21 kills, respectively.
