Baker-Schlendering breaks school high jump record as Women's Outdoor Track & Field sends split-squads to All-Ohio championships, Tennessee Invitational

Sophomore Avery Baker-Schlendering (Freeport, Maine) returned to her record-breaking ways this weekend, breaking the ONU high jump record as the Ohio Northern outdoor women's track & field team sent split-squads to the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships and the national stage of the 2026 Tennessee Invitational.
The Basics
- At the All-Ohio Championships, ONU finished 5th of 14 teams with 75 points.
- The Tennessee Invitational was not scored.
- Record: Ohio Northern (30-9 Overall).
- Ohio Wesleyan was 1st with 173.7 points, Baldwin Wallace took 2nd with 103 points, and Case Western finished 3rd with 95.5 points.

ONU Individuals - All-Ohio
- Senior Samantha Roth (Brunswick) won the 10000-meter run in 37:38.56.
- Senior Kennedy Rader (Mason) was 2nd in the 10000 with a time of 38:53.14.
- Junior AnnaSophia Gower (Perrysburg) took 2nd in the 3000m steeplechase in 11:44.41.
- Freshman Danika Denman (Fremont/Ross) placed 2nd in the pole vault, jumping 3.55 meters.
- Senior Natalie Armbruster (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) was 4th in the 5000m run, timing 18:23.77.
- ONU's 4x100m relay team of sophomore Kendyl Stone (Ashland), sophomore Tatum Walsh (Lima/Bath), freshman Mia Trusso (Willoughby Hills/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin), and sophomore Lauren Gossett (Beloit/West Branch) took 4th place in 49.94 seconds.
- Sophomore Je'Leycia Procter (Dayton/Early College) took 4th in the 100m hurdles, timing 14.59 seconds.
- Freshman Claire Benner (Van Wert) was 4th in the shot put, throwing 11.88 meters.
ONU Individuals - Tennessee
- Baker-Schlendering won the high jump with an ONU record leap of 1.75 meters.
- Junior Katelyn Wagner (Sycamore/Wynford) was 6th in the shot put, throwing 13.41 meters, and took 9th in the javelin, heaving 35.11 meters.
- Junior Katie Floyd (Swanton) took 7th in the javelin with a heave of 36.15 meters.
- Senior Claire Schweller (Paulding) placed 8th in the pole vault, clearing 3.82 meters.
- Senior Riley Heitkamp (Fort Loramie) finished 10th in the high jump, clearing 1.55 meters.
- Junior Anna Brady (Sidney) was 11th in the discus, throwing 37.86 meters.

- The All-Ohio meet consisted of 22 events - 8 field events, 12 running events, and 2 relays.

- Sophomore Allie Locke (Lancaster) threw 45.15 in the hammer at Tennessee and is now 8th all-time at ONU.
- Roth's 37:38.56 in the 10,000 is now the 9th-best in ONU history.
- Brady's throw of 37.86 meters is the new 9th-best in ONU history.
- Denman's jump of 3.55 meters is tied for 10th-best in ONU history.
- Baker-Schlendering is currently ranked No. 2 nationally this season in the high jump.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 17th year at Ohio Northern and is 548-182-3 in women's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .748. He is ONU's all-time winningest coach in track and field history.
