Women's Outdoor Track and Field finishes sixth at Cedarville Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open

CEDARVILLE — The Ohio Northern women's track and field team finished sixth at the Cedarville Yellow Jacket Collegiate Outdoor Open on Saturday.
The Basics
- Ohio Northern was sixth of 22 collegiate teams with 55 points.
- Record: Ohio Northern (16-5 Overall).
- Ashland won the team title with 133 points, Cedarville was second with 96 and Wayne State (Mich.) was third with 75.5 points.

Top ONU Performers
- Junior Katelyn Wagner (Sycamore/Wynford) was second of 45 in the javelin with a toss of 35.08 meters.
- She was also fifth in the shot put at 12.99 meters.
- Junior Katie Floyd (Swanton) was third in the javelin at 34.04 meters.
- Floyd was also sixth of 15 in the triple jump at 10.49 meters.
- Senior Claire Schweller (Paulding) was third in the pole vault, clearing 3.94 meters.
- Senior Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) was seventh in the event at 3.49 meters.
- Sophomore Avery Baker-Schlendering (Freeport, Maine) was third in the high jump by clearing 1.63 meters.
- Senior Riley Heitkamp (Fort Loramie) was seventh in the event at 1.53 meters.
- Junior Anna Brady (Sidney) was seventh in the shot put at 12.44 meters.
- Sophomore Katelyn Stechschulte (Findlay) was eighth in the long jump at 5.25 meters.
- The 4x100-meter relay team of sophomore Kendyl Stone (Ashland), sophomore Tatum Walsh (Lima/Bath), freshman Mia Trusso (Willoughby Hills/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) and sophomore Lauren Gossett (Beloit/West Branch) were fourth in :50.07.
- The 4x400 relay team of Walsh, sophomore Grace Chomic (Westerville/Columbus School for Girls), sophomore Alex Vargo (Lorain/Steele) and Trusso won the event in 4:12.07.

- The meet consisted of 20 events - 8 field events, 10 running events and two relays.
- Baker-Schlendering is now tied for seventh in the high jump at 1.63 meters.
- Wagner's 35.08-meter effort in the javelin puts her 10th all-time in ONU history in the event.
- Sophomore Allie Locke (Lancaster) is now No. 9 in the hammer throw with her 44.24-meter toss.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 17th year at Ohio Northern and is 534-178-3 in women's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .749. He is ONU's all-time winningest coach in track and field history.
