Roth, Schweller win titles, lead Women's Indoor Track and Field on Day 1 of the OAC Indoor Championships

TIFFIN — Seniors Samantha Roth (Brunswick) and Claire Schweller (Paulding) each won events on Friday leading the Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team into first place after Day 1 of the OAC Championships.
The Basics
- The two-day championships will take place over the course of Friday and Saturday at Heidelberg.
- After day one, the Polar Bears are in 1st place with 76 points.
- Mount Union is 2nd with 64 points, while Baldwin Wallace is in 3rd with 25 points and Capital is fourth with 24.5 points.
- Record: Ohio Northern (23-4 Overall).

- Roth won the 5000 in 17:45.90.
- Schweller cleared 3.88 meters to win the pole vault.
- Sophomore Avery Baker-Schlendering (Freeport, Maine) finished 2nd in the long jump, leaping 5.37 meters and claiming All-OAC honors.
- Senior Natalie Armbruster (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) finished 3rd in the 5000 in 18:26.26 to earn All-OAC accolades.
- Senior Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) finished 3rd in the pole vault, jumping 3.73 meters and claiming All-OAC honors.
- Junior Anna Brady (Sidney) placed 3rd in the weight throw, at 16.08 meters to claim All-OAC kudos.
- ONU's 4000m distance medley relay team of junior AnnaSophia Gower (Perrysburg), sophomore Alexa Lane (Lebanon), senior Kaitlin Prusnek (Findlay), and freshman Allison Woodruff (Arlington/Riverdale) finished 3rd in 12:45.86, all claiming All-OAC honors.
- Sophomore Tatum Walsh (Lima/Bath) took 3rd in the 400 in :59.81 to earn All-OAC honors.

- The two-day championships consist of 19 events with 10 running events, six field events, and three relays.
- Friday consisted of 7 events with 3 field events, 3 running events and 1 relay.
- The top three finishers in each event earn All-Conference accolades.
- Brady's weight throw of 16.08 meters is a new personal best and the 4th best in ONU history.
- Baker-Schlendering's jump of 5.37 meters is now the 8th best in ONU history.
- Roth is the eighth ONU woman and the first since 2017 to win the 5000.
- Schweller is now a two-time OAC Champion in the pole vault indoors, also claiming the title in 2024.
- She is a three-time winner overall as she took the 2024 outdoor crown as well.
- Ohio Northern is looking for its third OAC Indoor team title and its first since winning in 2009 and 2010.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 17th year at Ohio Northern and is 624-180-1 in women's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .774. He is ONU's all-time winningest coach in track and field history.
