Tatum Walsh wins three events as Women's Indoor Track and Field opens home schedule with victory in 2nd Annual Lydic Invitational

ADA — Sophomore Tatum Walsh (Lima/Bath) won three events to lead the Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team to a victory in its home opener, the 2nd Annual Rob and Patty Lydic Invitational, on Friday evening.
The Basics
- Ohio Northern finished first of four teams with 172 points.
- Record: Ohio Northern (8-2 Overall).
- St. Francis (Ind.) was second with 96 points, Manchester (Ind.) was third with 93 points and Indiana-East was was fourth with 83 points.
- Venue: ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse - Ada, Ohio.
Top ONU Performers
- Walsh won the 200 in :26.39, the 400 in 1:00.62 and was part of ONU's winning 4x400 relay team.
- Walsh, freshman Danika Denman (Fremont/Ross), sophomore Alex Vargo (Lorain/Steele) and freshman Mia Trusso (Willoughby Hills/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) won the 4x400 in 4:15.26.
- Senior All-American Claire Schweller (Paulding) won the pole vault by clearing 3.71 meters.
- Senior Kaitlin Prusnek (Findlay) won the 800 in 2:30.85.
- Sophomore Je'Leycia Procter (Dayton/Early College) won the 60 hurdles in 9.45 seconds
- Sophomore Avery Baker-Schlendering (Freeport, Maine) won the high jump by clearing 1.66 meters.
- Sophomore Lauren Gossett (Beloit/West Branch) won the 60 in :08.18.
- Sophomore Allie Locke (Lancaster) was third in the weight throw with a toss of 14.65 meters, which places her 10th all-time in ONU history in the event.
Notables
- The meet consisted of 15 events with five field events, eight running events and two relays.
- The Polar Bears won eight of the 15 events.
- Baker-Schlendering has won both of her high jump competitions this season.
- Proctor's :09.45 in the 600 hurdles moves her into 8th place in ONU history in the event.
- Walsh set a meet record with her 1:00.62 victory in the 400.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 17th year at Ohio Northern and is 610-178-1 in women's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .774. He is ONU's all-time winningest coach in track and field history.
