GENEVA — Senior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) earned All-America honors with another school record breaking effort in the shot put on the second day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on a breezy and chilly Friday.

  • Ohio Northern has scored five points and is tied for 22nd place after eight of 21 events.

Top ONU Performers

  • Burman earned All-America honors and broke her own school record with a toss of 14.35 meters on her second attempt to finish fifth.
  • Senior Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) finished 13th out of 22 in the event with a 13.46-meter effort on her third and final throw.

  • The top eight finishers earn All-America honors from the NCAA.
  • Finishers 9-16 earn Second Team All-America honors by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Association.
  • Burman was seeded sixth in the shot put with a then-school record 14.25 meters. She is also seeded 15th in the hammer throw with a school record 53.65 meters.
  • Burman was 13th this winter indoors in the weight throw after finishing 19th at the 2024 Indoor Championships in the event.
  • Friend was seeded 13th in the shot put at 14.00 meters.
  • Friend finished eighth in the discus with a toss of 41.14 meters in very challenging weather conditions with temperatures in the 50s and a driving rain hindering the athletes throughout the competition to earn All-America honors on Thursday.
  • This is her first appearance at the NCAA III Championships.
  • Junior All-American Claire Schweller (Paulding) was ninth in the pole vault by clearing 3.85 meters on Thursday.
  • The top 22 in each individual event and the top 16 relays at the end of the season qualified for the NCAA III Championships May 22-24 in Geneva, Ohio.
  • Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 16th year at Ohio Northern and is 534-178-3 in women's outdoor track and field for a winning percentage of .745.
