Senior Izzy Burman sets two school records as Women's Track and Field wins 5th annual Mike Becraft Invitational

ADA — Senior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) broke two the school records to lead the women's outdoor track and field team to victory in the fifth annual Mike Becraft Invitational on a wet and windy Saturday.

- Venue: Kerscher Stadium - Ada, Ohio.

- Ohio Northern finished first of 3 teams with 167 points.
- Manchester (Ind.) was second with 77 points and Bluffton was third with 40 points.
- The meet consisted of 17 events, including eight field events, seven running events and two relays.
- ONU won 13 of the 17 events.
- Two Polar Bears also competed in the pole vault at the Otterbein Twilight on a warm and windy Friday night.

- Burman broke her own previous hammer record by a full 10' 8", winning the event at 53.65 meters (176' 0").
- She also broke the school record in the shot with a heave of 13.31 meters (43' 8") to finish second.
- Senior Olyvia Ashbrook (Johnstown/Northridge) won the 100 hurdles in :14.89.
- Senior Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) won the discus with a heave of 43.73 meters.
- Senior Ashley Hockstok (Westerville/Central) won the 1500 in 4:50.86.
- Senior Kendra Krichbaum (Ashland) won the 100 in :12.63.
- Senior Lauryn Wolters (Anna) won the triple jump at 10.57 meters.
- Junior Natalie Armbruster (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) won the 3000 in 10:30.59.
- Junior All-American Claire Schweller (Paulding) won the pole vault by clearing 3.81 meters.
- Sophomore Katelyn Wagner (Sycamore/Wynford) won the javelin with a toss of 34.96 meters.
- Freshman Emersyn Gerken (Liberty Center) won the high jump by clearing 1.61 meters.
- Freshman Katelyn Stechschulte (Findlay) won the long jump at 5.23 meters.
- Freshman Tatum Walsh (Lima/Bath) won the 200 in :25.59.
- The 4x400 relay team of Ashbrook, sophomore Lily Wolfe (Mansfield/Lexington), freshman Anastacia Rogan (Bellefontaine/Calvary Christian) and junior Emalea Collins (Lima/Senior) won the 4x400 relay in 4:07.40.
Top ONU Performers - Otterbein
- Schweller and Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) competed in the pole vault Friday night at Otterbein.
- Schweller was second of 30 by clearing 3.94 meters, while Ford was fourth at 3.74 meters.
Notables
- Armbruster moves into second place all-time in ONU history in the 3,000 with her 10:30.59 effort.
- Schweller improved her PR by a quarter inch and stays at No. 2 all-time in ONU history at 12' 11". She currently ranks seventh nationally in the pole vault at 3.94 meters.
- Ford moves into sixth place all-time at ONU in the PV at 12 3.25". She is currently ranked No. 21 nationally in the event.
- Friend was third in the shot put at 12.98 meters. That toss of 42' 7" moves her into second place all-time at ONU in the event.
- Her discus throw if 143' 6" improves on her No. 2 standing in the event at ONU.
- Sophomore Katelyn Wagner (Sycamore/Wynford) was fourth in the shot. Her distance of 12.67 meters (41' 7") is the fifth-best in ONU history.
- Wagner moves into a 10th place tie at ONU in the javelin with her toss of 114' 8".
- Burman is now ranked 12th nationally in the hammer and 20th nationally in the shot.
- Friend is now ranked No. 27 nationally in the shot and is No. 28 nationally in the discus.
- The top 22 in each event at the end of the season qualify for the NCAA III Championships May 22-24 in Geneva, Ohio.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 16th year at Ohio Northern and is 525-178-3 in women's outdoor track and field for a winning percentage of .746.
