Burman, Schweller win events as Women's Track split-squad wins All-Ohio Championships title

DELAWARE / DURHAM, N.C. — The women's outdoor track and field team set split squads to the All-Ohio Championships and the Duke Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
The Basics
- Record: Ohio Northern (33-5 Overall).
- Venue: Selby Stadium - Delaware, Ohio / Morris Williams Stadium - Durham, N.C.
Meet Results
- Ohio Northern finished first of 13 teams with 139 points at the All-Ohio Championships.
- Ohio Wesleyan was second with 130.5 points, Otterbein was third with 78.5 points and Baldwin Wallace was fourth with 74 points.
- The meet consisted of 20 events, including eight field events, 10 running events and two relays.
- Ten Polar Bears competed in seven different events against Division I competition at the non-scoring Duke Invitational.
Top ONU Performers - All-Ohio
- Senior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) and senior All-American Claire Schweller (Paulding) each won events to lead the Polar Bears.
- Burman won the shot put with a toss of 12.76 meters.
- She was also second in the hammer with a toss of 47.96 meters and was second in the discus at 41.19 meters.
- Schweller won the pole vault by clearing 3.90 meters.
- Freshman Tatum Walsh (Lima/Bath) was second in two events.
- She was second in the 200 in :25.47 and was second in the 400 in :58.39.
- Senior Olyvia Ashbrook (Johnstown/Northridge) was second in the 400 hurdles in 1:03.99. She was also fourth in the 100 hurdles in :14.86.
- Junior Dani Widmark (Zanesfield/Benjamin Logan) was second in the 5,000 in 18:41.97.
- Sophomore Anna Brady (Sidney) was second in the shot put at 12.61 meters.
- Freshman Emersyn Gerken (Liberty Center) was second in the high jump by clearing 1.58 meters.
Top ONU Performers - Duke
- Senior Abby Matthews (Lithopolis/Bloom Carroll) was 114th of 116 in the 1500 in 5:01.90.
- Senior Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) was 13th of 30 in the discus at 41.06 meters.
- Junior Samantha Roth (Brunswick) led a group of four ONU runners in the 5,000, finishing 56th of 77 in 18:02.22.
- Junior Natalie Armbruster (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) was 17th of 26 in the 3,000 steeplechase in 11:18.24.
- Sophomore Katelyn Wagner (Sycamore/Wynford) led a group of four Polar Bears in the shut put by finishing 16th of 39 at 12.11 meters.
- Sophomore Katie Floyd (Swanton) was 17th of 25 in the javelin throw with a heave of 34.74 meters..
Notables
- Armbruster moves into second place all-time in ONU history in the 3,000 steeplechase with her 11:18.24 effort.
- Walsh moved into third place all-time in ONU history in the 400 with her :58.39 clocking.
- Burman is now fifth all-time in the discus at 135' 2".
- Ashbrook is now fifth all-time in the 100 hurdles at :14.86 and in the 400 hurdles at 1:03.99.
- Brady moved into fifth place on ONU's all-time career list in the shot at 41' 4.5".
- Freshman Je'Leycia Procter (Dayton/Early College) moved into sixth place all-time in the 100 hurdles with her fifth place time of :14.89.
- Schweller currently ranks eighth nationally in the pole vault at 3.90 meters.
- Friend currently ranks 21st in the discus at 43.44 meters and is 27th in the shot put at 12.88 meters.
- Senior Ashley Hockstok (Westerville/Central) ranks 27th nationally in the 10,000 in 37:17.23.
- Ashbrook is now ranked No. 26 nationally in the 400 hurdles at 1:03.99.
- Senior Sami Sellers (Van Wert/Lincolnview) currently ranks 29th nationally in the discus at 42.50 meters.
- The top 22 in each event at the end of the season qualify for the NCAA III Championships May 22-24 in Geneva, Ohio.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 16th year at Ohio Northern and is 523-178-3 in women's outdoor track and field for a winning percentage of .745.
