Friend, Walsh set school records to lead Women's Track and Field to second place finish at OAC Indoor Championships

ADA — Senior Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) and freshman Tatum Walsh (Lima/Bath) had record-setting performances to lead Ohio Northern to a second place finish at the 2025 OAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.

- Record: Ohio Northern (37-4 Overall).

Meet Results
- Ohio Northern was second of 10 teams with 173 points.
- Mount Union won the team title with 188.83 points, John Carroll was third with 154 points and Baldwin Wallace was fourth with 98.33 points.
- The meet consisted of 19 events, including six field events, 10 running events and three relays.
Top ONU Performers
- Friend won the shot put with a school-record tying toss of 13.51 meters.
- Walsh was third in the 60-meter dash in 7.81 seconds, breaking the school record in the process.
- She also finished second in the 200 in :25.41, earning All-Conference accolades in both events.
- Senior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) was second in the shot put with a toss of 13.30 meters to earn All-OAC kudos.
- Senior Olyvia Ashbrook (Johnstown/Northridge) was second in the 60 hurdles in :09.25, followed in sixth by freshman Alex Vargo (Lorain/Steele) in :09.71.
- Freshman Emersyn Gerken (Liberty Center) earned All-OAC accolades in the high jump by clearing 1.63 meters.
- The 4x400 relay squad of Walsh, sophomore Lily Wolfe (Mansfield/Lexington), freshman Alexa Lane (Lebanon) and Ashbrook was third in 4:05.22, earning All-OAC honors.
- Junior Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) was fourth in the triple jump at 10.75 meters and was fifth in the high jump by clearing 1.54 meters.
- Junior Samantha Roth (Brunswick) was fourth in the 3,000 run in 10:33.48.
- Sophomore Anna Brady (Sidney) was fourth in the shot put at 12.92 meters.
- Sophomore Paige Simpson (Merrillville, Ind.) was fourth in the 60 in 7.87 seconds.
- The 4x200 relay team of Simpson, senior Kendra Krichbaum (Ashland), freshman Kendyl Stone (Ashland) and Wolfe was fourth in 1:46.92.
- Senior Sami Sellers (Van Wert/Lincolnview) was fifth in the shot at 12.69 meters.
- Junior Lauryn Wolters (Anna) was fifth in the triple jump at 10.60 meters.
- Senior Natalie Armbruster (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) was fifth in the 3k in 10:38.48, followed by senior Ashley Hockstok (Westerville/Central) in sixth in 10:39.66 and sophomore AnnaSophia Gower (Perrysburg) in eighth in 10:40.79.
- Krichbaum was sixth in the 60 in 7.93 seconds.
- Junior Lindsay Weininger (Upper Sandusky) was sixth in the high jump at 1.54 meters.
- Senior Abby Matthews (Lithopolis/Bloom Carroll) was seventh in the mile in 5:13.33.

- Friend and Burman was named the Co-Women's Field Athletes of the Year in the OAC.
- Friend tied the school record of 44-4 set in 2019 by Tia Harris.
- Walsh's 7.81 clocking broke the 60-meter dash record of 7.82 set by Kayla Silva in 2022.
- ONU's 4x200 relay time of 1:46.92 is the third-fastest in ONU history.
- Brady moves into fourth place on ONU's all-time shot put list at 42-4.75.
- Krichbaum moves into fifth place on the school's 60 list at 7.93 seconds.
- She is also sixth on the 200 list at :26.69.
- Sellers moves into sixth place on ONU's all-time shot put list at 41-7.75.
- Sophomore Katelyn Wagner (Sycamore/Wynford) is now 10th all-time at ONU in the shot put at 39-3.25.
- Ford moves into 10th place on ONU's triple jump list at 35-3.25.
- Matthews' 5:13.33 run in the mile puts her ninth all-time in ONU history.
- Head Coach Jason Maus is in his 16th year at Ohio Northern and is 607-178-1 in women's indoor track and field for a winning percentage of .772. He is ONU's all-time winningest coach in track and field history.
