Krichbaum sets school record in 100 meters to lead Women’s Outdoor Track and Field at All-Ohio Championships

DELAWARE — Sophomore Kendra Krichbaum (Ashland) set the school record in the 100-meter dash to lead the Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team to a fourth-place finish in the 13-team All-Ohio Championships on Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan's Shelby Stadium.
The Polar Bears (13-3 overall) scored 97.5 points during the meet.
Case Western Reserve won the team title with 111 points. Ohio Wesleyan was second with 109 points, and Denison was third with 104.5 points.
Krichbaum finished second in the 100 meters with a time of :12.22, which bested the previous school record of :12.25.
She also finished fifth in the 200 with a personal-best time of :26.15, which ranks ninth all-time at ONU.
Krichbaum joined junior Allie Starner (Wellington), freshman Haley Cannon (Oregon/Clay) and sophomore Chloe Gibson (Ostrander/Buckeye Valley) to finish second in the 4x100 relay in :49.87.
Gibson won the long jump with a mark of 5.17 meters and was eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.12 meters.
Sophomore Olyvia Ashbrook (Johnstown/Northridge) won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.94.
Junior Megan Vapenik (Strongsville) was second in the 5,000 in 18:56.18, and freshman Samantha Roth (Brunswick) was right behind in third in 19:20.17.
Ashbrook, senior Lexi Neff (Northfield/Walsh Jesuit), freshman Rachel Ruggles (Mogadore/Field) and junior J.J. Herron (Miamisburg) placed fourth in the 4x400 relay in 4:13.52.
Junior Rosie Schroeder (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in :15.73 and was sixth in the 400 hurdles in 1:11.80.
Junior Olivia Ogg (Hebron/Lakewood) was fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.43 meters.
Sophomore Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 11.41 meters. She was also fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.05 meters and was eighth in the discus with a mark of 35.18 meters.
Senior Kenzie Detmer (Liberty Center) finished sixth in the javelin with a mark of 29.75 meters and was seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 10.17 meters.
The Polar Bears' scoring was rounded out by seven additional seventh- and eighth-place finishes.
In a split-squad weekend, some ONU student-athletes competed at the Bucknell (Pa.) Bison Classic on Saturday.
Sophomore Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) highlighted that meet for the Polar Bears, throwing a personal-best 41.90 meters in the discus to place ninth in the event. That mark ranks second all-time at ONU.
Senior Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) ran a personal-best 17:30.27 in the invitational section of the 5,000 meters, placing 35th. That time ranks second in program history.
Sophomore Ashley Hockstok (Westerville/Central) finished third in the 5,000 in 18:20.12, and freshman Kennedy Rader (Mason) was ninth in the event in 18:27.49.
Senior Taylor Ellerbrock (Columbus Grove) placed 44th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:44.29.
The Bucknell Bison Classic concludes on Sunday.
