ADA — Ohio Northern fifth-year senior Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of March 27 to April 2.
This marks the first such accolade for Pitcovich in her career. She is also a two-time OAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
The recognition comes after Pitcovich posted an eighth-place finish in the 10,000 meters at the Washington (Mo.) Distance Carnival on Saturday with a personal-best time of 36:07.00, which ranks second all-time at ONU. Her previous best time was 36:08.18.
Pitcovich's time from Saturday currently ranks ninth nationally in NCAA Division III.
Pitcovich is looking to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships in the 10,000 meters for the second straight season after finishing 17th with a time of 37:24.44 in the 2022 naitonal meet.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday at the Manchester (Ind.) Invitational.
