ADA — Senior Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and sophomore Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) each earned a pair of All-Great Lakes Region accolades to lead a list of three Ohio Northern student-athletes to earn All-Region honors from the USTFCCCA in women's indoor track and field for the 2023 season.
Freshman Claire Schweller (Paulding) also earned All-Region honors.
To earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be one of the top five individuals in their respective event in their region on the final TFRRS Descending Order List. In addition, each member of a region's top three relay teams was also selected for distinction.
Pitcovich is now a three-time All-Region honoree after earning accolades in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters this season.
She ranked third in the Great Lakes Region in the 3,000 with a converted time of 10:01.11. Her actual time of 10:06.26 ranks third all-time at ONU. That time earned her the Ohio Athletic Conference championship in the event this season.
Her time of 17:35.35 in the 5,000 ranked fifth in the region and is second all-time at ONU.
Burman earned All-Region status in the weight throw and shot put after winning OAC titles in both events this season.
She ranked third in the region in the weight throw with a mark of 15.92 meters and fifth in the shot put with a mark of 12.91 meters. Both marks rank second all-time at ONU.
Schweller ranked fourth in the region in the pole vault with a mark of 3.61 meters, which is eighth all-time at ONU.
The Polar Bears finished third at the 2023 OAC Indoor Championships and will open their outdoor season on April 8 at the Manchester (Ind.) Invitational.
