Women's Track and Field wins pair of events at Wittenberg Invitational

SPRINGFIELD — The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team won two events and had several high finishes at the non-scoring Wittenberg Invitational on Saturday at the Steemer Center.
The 4x200-meter relay team of sophomore Kendra Krichbaum (Ashland), junior Rosie Schroeder (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley), sophomore Chloe Gibson (Ostrander/Buckeye Valley) and freshmen Stacey Legg (Monroeville) topped Manchester (Ind.) and Heidelberg to win in 1:50.60.
Freshman Kaitlin Prusnek (Findlay) beat four other teammates in the 1,000-meter run in 3:16.09 as the five Polar Bear runners competed unopposed in the event.
Northern placed four in the top six in the pole vault, led by senior Anna Schatzle (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County) in second place by clearing 3.52 meters.
She won the tiebreaker with freshman teammate Claire Schweller (Paulding), who also cleared 3.52 and placed third.
Freshman Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) tied for fourth by clearing 3.37 meters and junior Olivia Ogg (Hebron/Lakewood) was sixth with the same 3.37-meter mark.
Freshman Lauryn Wolters (Anna) was second in the long jump with a leap of 5.21 meters.
Schroeder was third in the 60 hurdles in :09.66.
Sophomore Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) was third in the weight throw (14.74 meters) and was fifth in the shot put (12.10m).
The Polar Bears return to action on Friday and Saturday when they compete at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Baldwin Wallace.
