ADA — Ohio Northern sophomore Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 23-29.
This marks the first such honor of Burman's career, and it comes after she won the weight throw and placed fifth in the shot put to help the Polar Bears win the 13-team Muskingum Invitational on Saturday.
Burman won the weight throw with a mark of 14.73 meters and posted a distance of 11.15 meters in the shot put, scoring 14 total points toward the team's total of 161.5.
Earlier this season, Burman posted personal-best marks of 15.83 meters in the weight throw and 12.16 meters in the shot put at the Larry Cole Invitational. Those distances currently rank first and second, respectively, in the OAC this season and are second and sixth all-time at ONU.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday when they host the Joe Banks Invitational.
