This Weekend's Preview: The Ohio Northern women's track and field program continues its 2019 outdoor slate this weekend with a trip to the two-day Emory (Ga.) Classic in Atlanta, Georgia ... On Friday, field events begin at 2 p.m. with the men's hammer throw and the women's javelin competition while running events start at 3:30 p.m. with the 400-meter hurdles ... The meet resumes Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with the men's shot put, women's discus, and preliminary races in the sprint/hurdle disciplines ... The Polar Bears enter the weekend owning a 10-3 overall mark after ending fourth at the Muskingum Invitational with 93 points last weekend ... Senior Avery Ewing and sophomore Stella DeWitt claimed event titles in the 1,500-meter run and the long jump competitions, respectively, to lead the ONU efforts on Saturday ... Ewing claimed the 1,500-meter run title in a career-best 4:47.06, crossing the tape three seconds faster than the second-place finisher ... Meanwhile, DeWitt leaped 5.31 meters (17' 5.25") to secure the long jump event title ... In addition, sophomore Kylie Vestal earned runner-up honors in the 2,000-meter steeplechase in 7:45.93 ... Senior thrower Tia Harris and junior sprinter Taylor Lavey recorded two top-five finishes over the weekend ... Harris took third in the discus with a 37.14-meter effort (121' 11") and ranked fourth in the shot put with a 12.40-meter heave (40' 8.25") ... Lavey notched a third-place finish in the 100 and a fourth-place result in the 200 in :13.07 and :27.02, respectively.
