Emily Richards earns All-America honors in the 800-meter run at the 2016 NCAA III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships

GRINNELL, Iowa — Ohio Northern sophomore Emily Richards earned All-America honors in the 800-meter run on the second and final day of the NCAA Division III Women's Indoor track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon at the Bear Recreation and Athletic Center.
Richards came from the back of the pack with 300 meters to go, but was unable to overtake the race winner and was nipped at the tape for third place, finishing in 2:12.00.
Michelle Dobbs of Chicago won the race in 2:11.34 and Amy Vitti of Misericordia (Pa.) was second in 2:11.98.
Richards entered the meet seeded No. 1 nationally and won her heat in a school record and Bear facility record 2:10.52 on Friday.
The top eight finishers in each event earn All-America honors.
