Sophomore Emily Richards sets new school record to lead Ohio Northern Track & Field at the Buckeye Tune-Up meet

COLUMBUS —Sophomore Emily Richards leads the Ohio Northern track and field teams Friday evening at the Buckeye Tune-Up meet hosted by The Ohio State University.
Richards finished first in the 800-meter run and set a new ONU school record with a time of 2:11.67.
The sophomore currently holds the fastest time nationally in the event among DIII instiutions.
Junior Lucas Shumate also claimed a top ten finish, finishing ninth in the weight throw with a pitch of 16.95 meters.
Freshman Maddy Reed claimed a 10th place finish in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.37 meters.
Junior Allison Gast also competed in the meet, finishing the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.40.
Northern returns to action Saturday as they travel to Capital for the Rick Meindl Last Call Meet.
