Sophomore Emily Richards named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern sophomore Emily Richards was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the week of January 25-31.

Richards set a new school record in the 800-meter run this past weekend at the Mike Lint Alumni Open, winning the event with a time of 2:12.65. 

The sophomore broke the previous record of 2:14.29 held by five time All-American Erin Hipp.

Richards was also a member of the 4x400 relay team that finished fifth with a time of 4:01.34.

The Polar Bears improved to 16-4 overall, finishing 5th of 17 teams in the meet.

Northern return to action Saturday as they host the annual Joe Banks Invitational at the ONU Sports Center.
