Hoffman wins 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead Women's Outdoor Track & Field at Marv Frye Invitational

DELAWARE -- Junior Sam Hoffman won the 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead the Ohio Northern women's outdoor track & field team to a third place finish at the Marv Frye Invitational on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday evening.
The Polar Bears (7-2 overall) finished with 84.5 points.
Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 198 points, Baldwin Wallace was second with 100.50 points and ONU was third.
Hoffman crossed the finish line 11:50.20, which was 14 seconds faster then the next competitor.
The Polar Bears had three of the top five finishers in the long jump.
Sophomore Kristine Wagner and freshman Dianna Johnson-Ward finished in a tie for second with leaps of 5.03 meters (16-6.00) and freshman Kelsey Commager was fourth with a leap covering 4.94 meters (16-2.50).
The 4x100-meter relay team of freshman Rebecca Carman, freshman Meagan Ellinger, freshman Allison Gast and Commager recorded a second place finish in 50.98 seconds.
Gast and Carman finished third and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.70 seconds and 16.40 seconds, respectively.
In the 800-meter run, senior Erin Radigan finished third in 2:23.44, while sophomore Kara Sosinski was fourth in the 5,000-meter run in 18:39.14.
Sophomore Julie Amos finished tied for fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.43 meters (4-8.25) and freshman Michelle Mosler was fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:04.85.
Ohio Northern will return to Ohio Wesleyan on April 12, when it takes part in the All-Ohio Championships.
