No. 18 Women's Indoor Track & Field captures Capital Classic

BEXLEY -- Junior Laura Avino won the 800 run and junior Erin Radigan won the 1,000 run to lead the No. 18 Ohio Northern women's indoor track & field team to a first place finish at the Capital Classic on Saturday afternoon at the Capital Center.
The Polar Bears were first with 156 points, Capital was second with 74 points and Heidelberg was third with 63 points.
Avino finished the race in 2:28.24, while Radigan crossed the finish line in 3:13.25.
Sophomore Shayla Siefker posted a second place finish in the 1-mile run in 5:24.46.
Senior Vicki Moga was second in the high jump, clearing 1.58 meters.
Sophomores Gabrielle Metzner and Shannon Hageman finished third and fourth in the 200 dash with times of 27.71 seconds and 27.99 seconds respectively.
Metzner also notched a fourth place finish in the 60 hurdles in 9.50 seconds.
The 4x400 relay team of freshman Brittany Lee, freshman Julie Amos, freshman Tessa Riley and Siefker was third in 4:22.41.
Senior Sarah Thompson was third in the 3,000 run in 11:12.70, while sophomore Julie Puvogel was fourth finishing in 11:20.61.
Freshman Kristine Wagner posted a leap of 5.06 meters which was good for a third place finish in the long jump, while Hageman jumped 5.04 meters for a fourth place finish.
Junior Emily Blum was second in the triple jump covering 10.15 meters, Hageman was third leaping 10.08 meters and sophomore Paige Waugh was fourth leaping 10.01 meters.
Ohio Northern will be in action again on Friday and Saturday when it hosts the OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the ONU Sports Center.
