Steinbrunner shatters own school record in 5,000 run at GVSU Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. — Senior Alison Steinbrunner shattered her own school record in the 5,000-meter run on Friday afternoon at the Grand Valley State (Mich.) Big Meet.
Steinbrunner posted a time of 16:52.50 on a banked track, bettering her previous record of 17:08.87 by more than 16 full seconds.
She finished seventh out of 109 runners in the race, most of which were from NCAA Division I, II or NAIA schools.
Her time currently ranks as the third fastest in the nation.
Steinbrunner also owns the school record in the 1-mile, 3,000 run and DMR.
Ohio Northern will run again on Saturday at the All-Ohio Invitational at 11 am at Otterbein.
