One champion and two All-OAC finishes highlights Women's Track & Field's day at OAC Championships

WILMINGTON - The Ohio Northern women's track and field team are in second place after Day 1 of the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Wilmington College.
The Polar Bears' 29.5 points sit behind Mount Union's 37 points. Both Marietta and Baldwin-Wallace are tied at third place with 29 points, apiece.
ONU tallied one champion and two other All-OAC finishes on the day, led by senior Mallory Bloom's top finish in the 10,000 run in 37:57.33.
The 4x800 team of juniors Lydia Weaver and Alison Steinbrunner, and freshmen Caitlin Huber and Shayla Siefker finished second in 9:28.52 for an All-OAC nod.
Senior Aubrie Stechschulte earned All-OAC honors in the pole vault, finishing third at 10-4. She also placed fourth in the long jump at 17-7.50.
Junior Sarah Turley also recorded points for ONU with an eighth-place finish in the 10,000 run in 39:25.70.
Freshman Gabriele Metzner will move on to the finals of the 100 hurdles, as she finished eighth in the prelims on Friday in 16.07.
The Polar Bears conclude their weekend at the OAC Championships on Saturday. Field events are scheduled for a 10 a.m. start, followed by a 1:40 start to track events.
