Women's Track & Field opens outdoor season with 3-2 record at Muskingum Duals

NEW CONCORD -- Mallory Bloom set a new track record in the 3000-meter run to lead the Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team in its season-opening meet at the Muskingum Duals on Saturday.
The Polar Bears (3-2) defeated Bluffton, Geneva (Pa.) and Waynesburg (Pa.) and fell to Capital and Muskingum.
Bloom won the 3000 meters in a meet and stadium record 11:01.37.
Jordan Buchanan, Shayla Siefker and Vicki Moga also won events to lead ONU.
Buchanan won the 400 in 1:03.28 and finished second in the 200 in :27.15.
Siefker set a meet record in the 1500, winning the event in 4:54.18. She also finished second in the 800 in 2:19.41.
Moga won the high jump by clearing 5' 5 3/4".
Samantha Hoffman was second in the 2000 steeplechase and Sarah Ballmer was second in the pole vault in 9' 5 3/4".
Ohio Northern will return to action Friday at the Washington (Mo.) Invitational.
