Women’s Track & Field finish 10th at All-Ohio Championships, Steinbrunner qualifies for nationals in 5,000

WESTERVILLE -- The Ohio Northern women's track and field team finished 10th of 18 teams at the 2012 All-Ohio Championships on Saturday at Otterbein.
Northern finished with 31 points and moves to a 15-12 overall record.
Mount Union won the All-Ohio title with 82 points, followed by Capital with 70 points and Baldwin-Wallace at 65.5. Hosting Cardinals (57.5) and Ohio Wesleyan rounded out the top five team finishes.
Senior Aubrie Stechschulte had two top 5 finishes, as she placed second in the pole vault clearing 11-0.25. She also placed fifth in the long jump at 17-4.25.
Sophomore Vicki Moga finished third in the high jump at 5-4.25.
Freshman Shayla Siefker finished fourth in the 800 run at 2:19.72.
Finishing fifth in their respective events were senior Mallory Bloom in the 5,000 run in 18:49.11 and Lydia Weaver in the mile in 5:18.23.
Friday night at the Grand Valley State Big Meet, junior Alison Steinbrunner automatically qualified for the national championship meet in the 5,000 run when she finished fourth overall in 17:09.72. She was a little over one second shy of breaking her own school record she set last year.
Senior Kelly Casanova also competed at the GVSU Big Meet in the 5,000 run, finishing in 18:20.69.
Northern will host its annual Polar Bear Invitational next Saturday.
