Blum takes first in triple jump to lead Women's Track & Field in 2012 debut
FINDLAY — Sophomore Emily Blum's first-place finish in the triple jump led the women's track & field team in its season opening performance at the Northwest Ohio Invitational, hosted by Findlay on Friday at the Malcolm Athletic Center.
Blum tallied the team's lone first-place finish of the day, recording 32-2 in the event.
Second place finishes went to junior Alison Steinbrunner in the 3,000 run (10:27.86) and freshman Shannon Hageman in the 300 Dash (46.80).
Seniors Kelly Casanova and Aubrie Stechschulte, junior Jordan Buchanan, sophomore Katie Klopp and freshman Gabrielle Metzner all finished third in their respective events.
Casanova finished third in the 3,000 in 10:49.91, Stechschulte in the pole vault clearing 11-5.75, Buchanan in the 60 Dash in 8.37, Klopp in the 500 Dash in 1:27.27 and Metzner finished third in the 60 Hurdles in 9.64.
The Polar Bears are back in action next Friday when they travel to Baldwin-Wallace for the OAC Relays.
