ADA —Sophomore Alison Steinbrunner (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) has been named First Team Capital One Academic All-District IV for women's track & field/cross country as voted by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The pharmacy major has made the most of her collegiate career as a cross country and track athlete.
During the 2010 cross country season, Steinbrunner broke her own school records in the 5,000 and 6,000-meter races and was named OAC Women's Runner of the week three times.
At the conclusion of the season, she earned OAC Co-Women's Runner of the Year for the second consecutive season after defending her individual OAC title at the conference meet.
She was the only Polar Bear to reach the NCAA Division III national meet in Waverly, Iowa, and successfully achieved All-American status, finishing 21st with a time of 21:38. Steinbrunner is the only the second runner to reach such an honor in Ohio Northern's women's cross country history.
In the indoor track & field season, Steinbrunner broke two school records and successfully defended her individual conference titles in the 3,000 and 5,000 meter runs.
She again represented ONU at the national level at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 5,000.
Steinbrunner is now eligible for the national ballot for Academic All-America, which will be announced later this month.
