Women's Track & Field finishes in second at OAC Split Meet hosted by Wilmington

WILMINGTON - The Ohio Northern women's track & field team finished in second place with 138 points at the Ohio Athletic Conference Split Meet hosted by Wilmington Saturday on Friday.
Otterbein won the event with 145 points in the five-team event.
Brittany Farber had an impressive performance in the 800-meter run by winning the event in 2:18.67. She finished the race over nine seconds before the second-place finisher crossed the line.
Farber was also a member of the 4x400-meter relay team who finished second in 4:04.58. Joining Farber were Ashley Sottoway, Alyssa Reiter and Alison Steinbrunner.
Nicole Hope continued her tear on the ONU record books by winning the pole vault and setting an outdoor track & field school record by clearing 12-5.50.
Aubrie Stechschulte joined finished third in the event by vaulting over 11-11.75.
Rebecca Silverstein, Rachel Smith and the 4x800-meter relay team also picked up victories on the afternoon.
Silverstein was first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:55.76, while Brooke Bohanan was second in the event in a time of 12:24.79.
Smith was the 1,500-meter run in 4:57.27 and Kelly Casanova also broke the five-minute mark by finishing in second place in a time of 4:59.58.
The 4x800-meter relay team was comprised of Amanda Binkey, Ashton Dennen, Casanova and Keira Corbett. The foursome won the event in 10:07.32.
Adding to her victory in the pole vault, Hope turned in a second-place finish in the high jump by clearing 5-2.25.
Reiter was third in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.43, and Sarah Wilke was third in the 100-meter dash in 13.39.
In the javelin, Amanda Caudill turned in a third-place finish with a distance of 92-3.
Stechschulte and Wilke teamed with Jordan Buchanan and Tiffany Olberding in the 4x100-meter relay to finish in third in a time of 51.10.
The Polar Bears will compete next Saturday at the Mount Union Invitational.
