Bell, Hurst, Wills, O'Connell named Academic All-District in Women's Tennis by College Sports Communicators

ADA — Ohio Northern seniors Katie O'Connell (Novi, Mich./Saint Catherine) and Miranda Wills (Ada) and juniors Jenna Bell (Latrobe, Pa.) and Jamie Hurst (Granger, Ind./Penn) were named Academic All-District in women's tennis for 2024-25 by College Sports Communicators.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, each student-athlete must have at least a 3.5 GPA, be a sophomore or higher in athletic eligibility and have played in at least 50 percent of her team's games during the season.
O'Connell is now a three-time honoree.
She had a 9-11 singles record and 7-3 doubles record this season.
In her career, she is 94-36, including a 63-29 singles mark and 31-7 doubles record.
Wills is earning Academic All-District accolades for the first time.
She finished the season 28-12, with a 10-5 singles record and 18-7 doubles mark.
In her career, she is 79-35 overall, including a 30-12 singles and 49-23 doubles record.
Bell and Hurst are now two-time honorees.
Bell had a team-best 19 doubles wins, along with an 18-9 singles record.
She has a 102-54 overall record in her career, joining ONU's 100-Win Club.
Hurst leads the team with a 25-5 singles record. She also has a 7-3 doubles record.
She is 91-45 in her career, needing just 9 more wins to join ONU's 100-Win Club.
The Academic All-District Women's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Under third-year head coach Sean Swisher, the Polar Bears finished the 2023-24 season 18-4 overall and won the conference's Regular Season title with a 5-0 record.
Northern won its second consecutive OAC Tournament championship, and eighth overall, to claim an NCAA III Tournament berth.
