ADA — Ohio Northern head coach Scott Wills was recently honored as one of the one of the top ten all-time winningest coaches in the nation in NCAA Division III women's tennis by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Wills currently ranks ninth all-time in NCAA Division III women's tennis history with a winning percentage of 78.9. His 19-year career record of 381-102 puts him 19th all-time on the NCAA Division III women's tennis wins list.
Among active coaches, Wills ranks 7th all time in winning percentage and 11th in victories.
He is only nine wins away from the Ohio Athletic Conference women's tennis record of 390 wins by Baldwin Wallace's Jack Bethanfalvy, who went 390-300 from 1985-2018.
ONU has captured a total of 14 OAC regular season and tournament championships during his tenure and the team has been honored as an ITA Academic-All American team 16 of the last 19 years.
"This honor is a tribute to the many outstanding student-athletes in our program over the years and their achievements in the classroom and on the court," Wills said. "In addition to their support of Polar Bear tennis as ONU alumni. The contributions and volunteerism of our assistant coaches Chris Alexander and Taryn Stromback have and continue to be key to our program's success."
