Starkey wins the 200 Back, leads Women's Swimming and Diving to third place finish on final day of at Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER — Junior Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) won the 200 back in 2:09.92 to lead the Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team on the third and final day of the Wooster Invitational on Saturday.
The Polar Bears (2-2 overall) scored 1350.5 points in the 20 events to finish third of nine teams and had 11 different top-10 finishes on Saturday.
Junior Abby Schauer (Beavercreek) was right behind Starkey in third place in the 200 back in 2:12.30.
Senior Megan Lubinski (Loveland/Brighton) also had a third place finish in the 100 free in :53.50 and freshman Hayley Solomon (Cincinnati/Sycamore) finished third in the 3-meter diving with 262.75 points.
Freshman Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) and freshman Morgan Fernandez (Huber Heights/Wayne) each had top-10 finishes in the 200 fly as Brown was fifth in 2:17.61 and Fernandez was 10th in 2:26.22.
Northern had three top-10 finishes in the 1650 free. Sophomore Katie Bend (Carmel, Ind.) was fifth in 18:42.41, freshman Hannah Eversole (Cincinnati/Mt. Notre Dame) was ninth in 19:22.93 and senior Karli Katterle (Rocky River) was 10th in 19:25.44.
Freshman Aubrey Pritchard (Delaware/Olentangy Berlin) was sixth in the 200 breast in 2:39.18, while freshman Alina Miles (Manteno, Ill.) was eighth in 2:44.43.
Freshman Annie Richters (Troy/Miami East), senior Lauren Shaw (Port Clinton), junior Gabbie Grant (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) and Lubinski wrapped up the meet with a fourth place finish in the 400 free relay in 3:41.29.
The meet scored the top 24 individual places and each team's top two relays in each event.
Mount Union won the team title with 1591 points. Wooster was second with 1517 points and Westminster (Pa.) was fourth with 1181 points.
The Polar Bears will be off for the holidays and will return to action Jan. 15 home against Mount Union.
