Taylor, Lubinski win three events each, lead Women's Swimming & Diving in tight 121-101 setback at Mount Union

ALLIANCE — Senior Marissa Taylor (Granite Falls, N.C./South Caldwell) and junior Megan Lubinski (Loveland/Brighton) each won three events to lead the Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team in a 121-101 loss at Mount Union at Hammond Natatorium Friday evening.
The Polar Bears fall to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference and the Purple Raiders finish their regular season 3-1, 3-1.
Taylor and Lubinski won two individual races each and combined with sophomores Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) and Abby Schauer (Beavercreek) to win the 400 medley relay in 4;15.75.
Taylor won the 400 I.M. in 4:54.92 and the 500 free in 5:42.30, while Lubinski won the 50 free in :25.36 and the 100 free in :55.25.
Starkey also won the 200 back in 2:14.95.
Freshman Sofia Vazquez (Fulshear, Tex/Tompkins) won the 1-meter diving uncontested with 193.90 points.
Schauer also posted a second place finish in the 200 breast in 2:43.17 and junior Karli Katterle (Rocky River) was second in the 1000 free in 11:49.87.
The Polar Bears will look to grab a share of the OAC Regular Season title with a dual meet at league-leading John Carroll on Saturday at 1 pm in the regular season finale for both teams.
