Women’s Swimming & Diving places numerous athletes in top 10 during first day of Wooster Invite

WOOSTER — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team completed Day 1 of the Wooster Invitational Thursday. Several Polar Bears placed inside the top 10.
The 400-yard medley relay team — consisting of freshman Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine), freshman Abby Schauer (Beavercreek), sophomore Mya Parsons (Castle Rock, Colo./Arapahoe) and sophomore Megan Lubinski (Milford/Brighton) — headlined the night for Northern. The quartet touched seventh, recording a time of 4:11.99.
Junior Marissa Taylor placed eighth in 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:29.74. Taylor also swam leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay team — comprised of freshman Gabrielle Grant (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview), Lubinski and sophomore Sydney Johnson (Crown Point, Ind.) — that finished ninth in a time of 1:42.29.
Schauer capped the night with a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking in at 2:15.20.
The second day of the Wooster Invitational gets underway at 10 a.m. Friday with preliminary races.
