Seven named Academic All-Conference in Women's Swimming & Diving for 2016-17 season

ADA — Seven members of the Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team were named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference for 2016-17.
Seniors Kelsey Brebberman (Maumee), Stacie Melody (Dublin/Jerome) and Molly Wheeler (Sylvania/Northview), juniors Maggie Dempster (Akron/Firestone), Kasey Mucher (Arlington, Tex./Oakridge) and Hailee Sautter (Mansfield/Lexington) and sophomore Kierra Watson (Brownsburg, Ind.) all received the honor.
Brebberman is a pharmacy major and is making her third appearance on the Academic All-OAC team.
She has scored points at her four OAC Championships events in the 100 and 200 back and 400 I.M. events.
Melody is a three-time Academic All-OAC honoree and is majoring in business management.
She earned All-Conference accolades as part of ONU's 200 free relay team this season and has scored points in the 100 and 200 back and 200 I.M. at her previous OAC Championships events.
Wheeler, a pharmacy major, is now a three-time Academic All-OAC honoree.
She is also a 3-time All-Conference award winner as a member of ONU relay squads.
Wheeler has also scored points for the Polar Bears in the 50 free, 100 and 200 breast and 200 I.M. events.
Dempster is a two-time Academic All-Conference honoree and is majoring in pharmacy.
She was a diver her first two seasons at ONU and transitioned to the I.M. events this season.
Mucher is majoring in pharmacy and is making her second appearance on the Academic All-OAC team.
A versatile swimmer, she has contributed points at the previous three OAC Championships meets in the I.M., back, free and fly events.
Sautter, a pharmacy major, is a two-time All-OAC honoree and was All-Conference as a part of ONU's 800 free relay team.
She has also scored points in the distance free events in each of the past three OAC Championships events.
Watson is majoring in pharmacy and is a 5-time All-Conference honoree.
She has earned All-OAC kudos in the back and I.M. events and on ONU's 200 medley relay team.
Ohio Northern finished 4-4 overall and were 2-2 in OAC dual meets in 2016-17. ONU finished third at the OAC Championships under 13th-year head coach Peggy Ewald.
