Bri Straus named OAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
By Wes Mayberry
ADA — Ohio Northern junior Bri Straus (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 24-30.
Straus earns her first career OAC Player of the Week accolade on the heels of the Polar Bears' wins over Baldwin Wallace and Marietta last week en route to clinching a share of the OAC Regular Season championship with Capital.
Northern defeated the Yellow Jackets 2-0 on Wednesday and the Pioneers 5-0 on Saturday to extend its current win streak to six games, all of which have been shutouts. That win streak is part of a larger 11-game unbeaten streak.
Straus was part of a Polar Bear defense that allowed just three total shots, only one of which was on goal, in the two games last week. She also contributed offensively, scoring both goals in the win over Baldwin Wallace. Those marked the first goals of her career.
Northern returns to the field on Thursday to host an OAC Tournament semifinal game at 7 p.m.
