Junior Sarah Puntel named Women's Soccer OAC Athlete of the Week

ADA — Junior Sarah Puntel (Strongsville) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 9-15.

The junior earns the honor for the first time in her career.

Puntel led Northern offensively as the No. 15-ranked Polar Bears posted a 2-0-0 record during the week, defeating Heidelberg and John Carroll.

In the contest against Heidelberg, Puntel scored an unassisted goal in the 27th minute that would prove to be the game-winner for ONU.

The junior would then seal the deal in the contest against John Carroll as she capitalized on a PK to help ONU claim a 2-0 victory over JCU.

Northern returns to action on Wednesday evening at 7 pm as it travels to Wilmington to take on the Quakers at Townsend Field.
